Swimming off the boat

We have had some engine trouble with out boat this summer. We did have a few opportunities to get out on and go swimming off of it. We had so much fun packing a lunch and eating out on the lake and then swimming afterwards.

Jackson loved swimming in the "deep water" in his life jacket and his fish ring. We swam out there for an hour and more and he was happy as could be.

Can't wait for next summer when we can take Lainey out too.

Jackson's first movie in the theater

In our house, we love the Toy Story movies! So we were so excited to go see Toy Story 3 in the theater as Jackson's first movie in a theater. He loved it, although he did not keep the 3-D glasses on for most of the movie. I ended up taking him back a few weeks later and we saw in in non-3-D again.

Fishing with Keycoo

Jackson was so excited to use his new fishing pole for the first time with Keycoo. They went out in the evening and ended up catching 4 fish!! Jackson loved it :)

Cedar Point

Smucker's had a family day in June at Cedar Point. We thought it would be a great day to try to take Jackson. We were not sure that he would like all of the rides, and Mommy could not ride any of the rides at 7 months pregnant.

Jackson LOVED all of the rides, we had such a fun day. They were calling for storms and 95 degrees. The storms held off and it was a beautiful HOT day.

The Junior Gemini with Daddy.

Snoopy race cars.

All Jackson talked about before out trip was taking a rocket ride. He was so excited to find the rocket, he rode this one a few times.

We cannot wait to go back again-Mommy can't wait to ride some of the rides with Jackson this time.

Wearing his "vintage" Poplars wear.

Jackson only liked swinging on his belly this summer. He pretended to be Superman.

Nature's Neighborhood at the Zoo

Jackson and I took a trip to the zoo. We had so much fun playing in the Nature's Neighborhood section. Jackson picked up rocks in the stream (and cooled off a bit in the refreshing water!)

Building a birds nest.

Fishing at the Lake

Jackson received his first fishing pole from the Lee's for his birthday. He had a great time practicing casting it at the beach (with no hook).

Sleepy boy and his dog

Jackson and Precious tired out from a weekend at the lake.

Jackson loves his books. We read every night before bed and before nap. He will spend a long time looking at books on his own too. No offense to Daddy, but I think his love of reading comes from Mommy :)

Walking with Dinosaurs

We took Jackson to see Walking with Dinosaurs at the Lucas County Arena. It was amazing!! The dinosaurs were gigantic and so lifelike. It was also very educational, a lot of information about the dinosaurs. All Jackson talked about was seeing the T-Rex. Of course being a 3 year old he did not nap that afternoon. He ended up falling asleep literally minutes before it came out-it was the finale dinosaur. Somehow he slept through all of the roaring and growling. Luckily there had been a smaller dinosaur that resembled a T-Rex so he thought that he had seen it. We did not tell him any differently :) We will definitely go back if it comes to town again.

The much talked about T-Rex

Lainey's crib

Daddy and the very proud big brother working on putting Lainey's crib together.

The beautiful finished product!

Jackson had to try out the bed to make sure it was safe and comfortable for his baby sister.

Potty trained!!!!

We told Jackson that when he turned 3 he wouldn't be able to wear diapers anymore. The weekend after his birthday we put him in big boy underwear for the weekend. It was all that he needed. He only had 2 accidents throughout that weekend and that was it! We should have put him in underwear way before that-it was obviously what he was waiting for :)

I don't think I have ever seen anything as cute as his little bum in his underwear!!!!

Big Boy room

We started turning the guest room into Lainey's nursery so we thought that Jackson deserved to redecorate his room too. He is really into Toy Story-especially Buzz Lightyear. We turned his toddler bed into a full size bed-and got a new Toy Story bedding set. We also got some Buzz Lightyear decal to put up. Jackson is very satisfied and excited about his new big boy room.

Jackson, of course, was a big helper throughout the project. You can count on him to be anywhere there is tools!!

He looked so small in his new big bed-he adjusted really well though. It is nice to be able to lay in bed with him to read bedtime stories.

Big Boys don't need naps

Leading up to Jackson's 3rd birthday we really talked up how 3 year olds don't use diapers or pacifiers. Jackson added in naps to things that 3 year olds don't need. He started really fighting naps after his birthday. This is what happens when he skips a much needed nap.

Birthday Boy

On Jackson's actual birthday he got a new pirate ship and dinner at Chuck E. Cheese

Jackson loves his pirate ship. We cut the tips off of his paci's after his birthday. When we gave them to him-he told me that the pirates must have used their swords to cut the paci's. He took this much better than Mommy and Daddy cutting them :) Thanks pirates!!!
